Ordering

Purchase or process data directly from catalog search.

Introduction

This section will guide you through ordering various geospatial data in the Catalog. Please note that the ordering process is divided into two usage types:

  • Purchase: This option orders Pléiades and SPOT 6/7 satellite images from both the long-term archive and online archive.
  • Processing: This option orders Pléiades, SPOT 6/7 and Sentinel satellite images only from the online archive, which can be further processed in a workflow.

A. Purchase | Ordering Images

This ordering process is activated when selecting the usage type Purchase. This category allows you to easily get Pléiades and SPOT 6/7 satellite images from both the long-term archive and online archive. The steps are described below.

1. Preview the image footprint

After adjusting the filters in the catalog, the search query will retrieve a drop-down list of available images on the left panel. Hover over the image thumbnails, in order to view the image footprint in relation to your AOI.

Please note that the images intersect the AOI and may not cover it 100%.

2. Preview the quicklooks

Click the image thumbnails, in order to examine the overall visual quality of the image.

Please note that quicklooks are a lower-resolution version of the original image.

Please note that only the segment of the image that intersects your AOI will be considered in the pricing, not the entire AOI.

5. View the order summary and place the order

Click on Checkout, in order to view the order summary. Please note that you are not charged at this step.

6. Launch the order

Before placing orders, users need to be aware that this process is irreversible and it cannot be reverted. If you want to proceed with purchasing the images, click on Order for XXX Credits. Ordering is performed under the following conditions:

  • If the user has sufficient credits, the order is placed and the credits are held.
  • If the order is successful, the credits are deducted from the account credit balance.
  • If the order fails, the credits are returned to the account credit balance.

Please note that ordering has a minimum AOI size of 0.1 square kilometers. Smaller AOIs will lead to order failure.

7. Delivery time

B. Processing | Integrate images into workflows

This ordering process is activated when selecting the usage type Processing. This category returns data that can further be integrated into existing workflows and processed via job runs. This process assumes that you already built workflows by following the steps 1-10 from the article Building your first Workflow.

The Processing usage type provides more Data Sources: Pléiades, SPOT 6/7, Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2, Sentinel-3 and Sentinel-5.

2. Preview the quicklooks

Click the image thumbnails, in order to examine the overall visual quality of the image.

Please note that quicklooks are a lower-resolution version of the original image.

7. Choose Project/Workflow

The images will only be included in existing workflows, which are stored in your projects. First, your existing projects will be listed. Click on the desired project and a list of workflows will appear. Choose the workflow where you would like to include the image(s).

Please note that only compatible workflows will be displayed. In this example, if your workflow includes a different data block from Pléiades (SPOT 6/7, Sentinel-1, Sentinel-2 etc.), it will not be displayed in the list, because it is not compatible with the Pléiades images you selected in the Catalog. Since we already created a workflow Normalized Difference Vegetation Index based on a Pléiades data block, it is displayed in the list.

8. Run Job

Once you click on the workflow, you will be redirected to the job configuration window. The fullscene ID of the image is now integrated in the job parameters under the variable ids. The price will be estimated below the JSON job parameters. Run the job and download the outputs according to steps 12-19 from the article Building your first workflow.
