Calculates NDVI on imagery with RGB and NIR bands.

Block type: PROCESSING

This block computes the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) from Pléiades Reflectance (Download), SPOT 6/7 Reflectance (Download), Hexagon, Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8 Level 1 (GeoTIFF) images. The Pléiades and SPOT data blocks need to first be converted to GeoTIFF with the processing blocks DIMAP -> GeoTIFF Conversion or Pan-sharpening SPOT/Pléiades. Sentinel-2 L2A (SAFE) can also be used if combined with processing block Super-resolution Sentinel-2.

NDVI is used as an indicator for vegetation health and it is computed via the following formula:

NDVI=NIR-Red/NIR+Red

Supported parameters

  • output_original_raster: Output the original reflectance raster file in addition to the NDVI image is supplied as well

Output format

Output is GeoTIFF. Input bands are of data type unsigned integer, while the output is of type float. All metadata elements provided by the input dataset as properties are propagated to the output tiles.
